We spent the Bank Holiday weekend in Devon, at my Aunt & Uncle’s cottage just outside Axminster. I asked for some tips on the best things to do in the area, especially Lyme Regis and a number of you asked me to share the recommendations! Whilst we didn’t get to do as much as we’d have liked to, we’ll definitely be back for more weekends this summer!
We attempted to visit the Rousdon Kitchen on Sunday morning for brunch but unfortunately the rain wasn’t conducive to an enjoyable outside meal (OK, if I’m honest if it had just been Tom and I, we probably would have waited it out as the food looked THAT good.
Lyme Regis is a seaside town in Dorset, with historic cobb and harbour and plenty of scenic walks, coffee shops and restaurants. Make sure to check the tides before heading out for a walk along the beach – low tide wasn’t until after 4pm on Sunday (which coincided nicely with some sunshine!).
We picked up coffee and tiffin to take with us to the beach from Good Food Cafe & Deli however next time I’d head into town a little earlier to buy a doughnut from The Whole Hog.
Chester enjoyed his first trip to the beach and dip in the sea, although he wasn’t so sure on the waves!
What to do in Lyme Regis
Places for coffee & cake…
Stop for a bite…
Shops for a mooch around…
We’re looking forward to coming back to Lyme in the summer when we might be brave enough to go for a full dip, and will be able to try some of the recommended cafes and restaurants.
